Week 3: Early Letterform

 For this project, I chose the greek letter Xi. 

In ancient and in modern greek, this letter represents the sound [ks]. It is the 14th letter of the greek alphabet, and has a numerical value of 60. Csi/Xi originates from the Phoenician language sāmek, which translates to fish. The uppercase letter (Ξ) is used to represent various particles in physics as well as mathematics, while the lowercase letter (ξ) is used as a symbol for mass and astronomical functions.

WEEK 2: Alignment Project

I found this assignment quite confusing and illustrator was giving me lots of difficulty as well, but I managed to come up with something at the end. My favorite was align center, as I really like the way the passage looks with the divider.

WEEK 1

Word Project

The words I chose for this project were "expansion" and "transition". I wanted both of my words to have the same style but also clearly convey two different meanings. For expansion, I decided to layer the texts (and make one bigger and the other smaller) in order to give an enlarging effect. And for transition, I made half of the word white and the other half black so that it could show the transition from one color to another. Adding the warp and fisheye distortion effect gave it that flow that was needed to successfully capture the symbolism of the word.
